The lower parts have slower flow rate and hold big pike, "adult" whitefish, grayling and perch.

Glomma - Os & Erlien stretch

A 20 km long stretch in the upper parts of Glomma. The river is varied and changing between rapids and calm sections. There are many riffles, slower stretches and deep pools. This makes the river very attractive for fly fishing. The lower part of his river stretch also contains River Vangrøfta and River Nøra to this area. These are smaller rivers which can offer exciting fishing. Grayling and trout are the dominant fish species. In most rivers the size of the fish is often greatest in the upper parts, the areas in the upper Glomma are no exception.

Glomma - Tolga stretch

This zone starts at the old bridge of Tolga, and ends at the Eids waterfall.  It is about 7 km long, and at most places the current is fast to very fast.  It is difficult to wade because the strong current and the big stones at the river bed.  There are a few places with deeper channels, and a bit slower current.  These are the places to fish for grayling.  You can expect to find trout everywere.

Glomma - Eidsfossen stretch

Beginning at the Eids waterfall and ending 1 km downstream of Kvennan Camping, this strech is about 4 km long.  Near the waterfall there are some very deep holes in the river bed, and many interesting eddies and hiding places for big trout.  Every year some big trout up to 4 kg are taken, and the biggest grayling I've heard of also comes from this zone (67 cm, 3 kg).  In front of Kvennan Camping, near the isles, you can expect to have great fly fishing during the whole season.

Glomma - Tynset strech(Tunna)

Beginning at Åbrua and ends between Tynset and Alvdal, at Auma bridge.  At most places the current is very slow and the river looks more like a lake.  The river bed is sandy, and there is an abundance of aquatic vegetation.  Averaging the river is 90 meters wide, and by far to deep to cross.  The river falls only 1 meter, and the zone is 19 km long.  You can also fish river Tunna, a side river that enters Glomma just west of Tynset.

Glomma - Rendalen strech

This area stretches from the Alvdal community border to the Stor-Elvdal community border. River Glomma is regulated by the Høyegga dam in Alvdal. A part of the water is transferred to the Rendalen power plant. This can lead to rapid water level changes downstream of the dam. Some anglers prefer to fish here just for that reason.
