The zone starts at the old bridge north of Tolga and goes down to Eidsfossen waterfall (about 7 km). The river has a number of rapids and it has quite a fast flow. It is difficult to cross because of fast currents and some large stones. There are also some deeper pools in the stretch, these are the places for grayling fishing. Trout is the dominant species in this area of Glomma.
