River Glomma - Galåen area offers diverse fishing opportunities for several species. Here, both worm-, lure- and fly-fishermen find their fishing grounds. In the upper parts of the fishing area grayling and trout are the dominant species. This area is very suitable for fly fishing. In the lower part the current slows down and here you can find big pike, "adult" mountain whitefish, grayling and perch.
The river is easily accessible from road and has several prepared fishing spots.

Fishing regulations
Fishing season whole year, but closure for trout from September 15 until May 14
Allowed fishing tackle: fly, lure, worm, but NO small fish allowed.
All fish under 30 cm have to be released.
Be careful when handling a fish that will be released.
Be moderate with killing fish !
The fishing license is personal and not transferable. The fishing license is not valid without identification.
Children under 16 fish for free but must otherwise comply with the regulations.
Violations of the regulations may result in prosecution.
General information
Show respect for cultivated land. Do not walk over fields. Take all rubbish home. The river environment is a shared responsibility. When camping, use as much as possible marked area's. Show respect to buildings and public access.
Important for releasing fish
For fish to survive catch and release the following is very important:
- Land the fish as fast as you can!
- DO NOT touch the fish with dry hands
- DO NOT lift the fish out of water unnecessarily
- Be fast and efficient
- Use forceps to unhook the fish
