Lake Savalen is a mountain lake at an altitude of 707 meters above sea level. Char is the dominant fish species, but there is also a good population of trout that can grow big. The average weight of char has in recent years been between 0,25 and 0,3 kg. The average weight of trout is over halve a kilo. The last years there were many good reports of fisherman using sport fishing tackle. Trout between 1 to 2 pounds are fairly common, big fish between 3 and 4 kg are there. The largest trout ever recorded in recent times was 12 kg, it was taken on rod and line in 1984. It is allowed to fish with nets on Savalen, there are 2 licenses to fish with nets for sale every day.

Fishing Rules
Fishing season : May 15th until September 15th
Permitted with a rod, hand lines and "otter" (special Norwegian tool for fishing)
All trout under 30 cm must be released.
Fishing north of the protection line in Botnen is not allowed.
The license is strictly personal and not transferable. The fishing license is not valid without identification.
Children under 16 fish for free but must otherwise comply with the regulations.
Violations of the regulations may result in prosecution.
Other information
Take all rubbish home.
The environment around the lake is a shared responsibility.
Show respect for buildings and public access.
Some roads require to pay toll. Follow the information signs!
