About Fishspot

Among fishermen "spot" is a term for a good fishing place. "Spot" can also mean
center. Fishspot is the center for good fishing places.

This fishing tourism project in North Østerdalen, now called fishspot, started in January 2010 on the initiative of licensees in the region. The project is financed by Innovation Norway, Hedmark County Council and the County Governor in Hedmark. In addition, municipalities Tynset, Os and Rendalen contribute. The project covers basically a three-year period but we hope that good results can lead to prolongation.

The main goal of this project is that fishing resources in the region can be developed as a basis for local benefit.

The project works directly with licensees. In the beginning of summer 2010, 22 fishing areas were highlighted on the website. Information posters were made, and all areas joined the online license sales system (using local outlets, the web and SMS). Several new areas have been contacted and exciting new offers will be presented. Stay tuned !

We now wants to focus more on product development in facing the different audiences. For the project it is important to focus on fishing tourism in the region as a whole. Different areas have different qualities. Most of the fisheries are and will remain, a fishery under the category "fish for all". But to be able to offer a more varied and attractive fishing, to different audiences, we wants to develop a few more special products.

For 2011, all fishing area's are presented in three different categories: fly fishing, pike fishing and "fishing for all". Fish programs are categorized according to the criteria. In collaboration with the project, several licensees and landowner organizations committed themselves to development in order to offer attractive fishing experiences to the different audiences.

The goal is that more fishermen will be experience good fishing trips in our region. Targeted facilitation and management, with specific objectives, are important conditions for succes.

Fish Spot has quickly become one of platforms for investment in fishing tourism in the region. By working together as a region, to cooperate and to benefit from each other, it is easier for participants to succeed and to develop customized and good fishing for many anglers.
